Quality Process Engineer

SUMMARY

The Quality Process Engineer is responsible for the development and updates to detailed processes, procedures and supporting documentation for complex assemblies (electrical cable assemblies, wire harnesses, electrical connectors backshells and wired enclosures, and all other internal and external customer requirements).

This position reports directly to the Quality Assurance Engineering Manager or equivalent.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Create, improve and maintain detailed Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs) for complex assemblies, processes to successfully transition of customer products to production.
  • Prepare and incorporate Engineering Change Notices.
  • Aid in development of new fixture tooling for inspection.
  • Work on continuous improvement /special projects to improve inspection efficiency.
  • Assist in document development of controlled processes, test plans, etc.
  • Work with inspection personnel to streamline inspection process and insure compliance to customer requirements.
  • Perform Qualification testing/Production Lot Testing as required
  • Prepare formal Qualification Test Reports
  • Familiarize and program computerized Automated Cable Testing equipment
  • Perform FAIR’s in accordance with AS9102 when required.
  • Participate as an internal auditor for company procedures and for AS9100 requirements.
  • Develop working knowledge of Military Test Methods MIL-STD-202 and MIL-STD-810

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Manufacturing and or inspection experience with molded cable assemblies, wire harnesses, electrical connectors, backshells and wired enclosures.
  • Be able to read and interpret customer drawings, specifications, wire schematics.
  • Be able to perform manual and automated continuity, DWV and Hi Pot testing.
  • Proficient with Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Strong background in managing multiple projects simultaneously within given deadlines.
  • Able to work overtime to complete priority due dates.
  • Industrial/Mechanical or Electrical AA degree min. or 1-year equivalent experience.

  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.  Possible electrical hazards, possible fumes, airborne particles, odors, moveable mechanical parts, low to moderate noise level.  The job location for this role is partially in a factory.  Exposure to temperature fluctuations is expected.
